Permanent employees, consultants and contractors with the federal government of Malaysia will be able to purchase insurance coverage on their personal vehicles through the Keluarga Malaysia Vehicle Insurance Financing scheme, according to Dato Sri Ismail Sabri, Prime Minister of Malaysia. Ismail Sabri noted that this change will benefit some 1.6 million Malaysians and make insurance coverage more affordable and accessible, especially given current economic circumstances in Malaysia.
Keluarga Malaysia Vehicle Insurance Financing programme for civil servants launched
The Keluarga Malaysia Vehicle Insurance Financing programme was launched on the 5th of July in conjunction with the National Day celebrations. Ismail Sabri said that this is a boon for civil servants and their families as it covers all vehicles used by the civil servants and their family members including those owned by children. Coverage includes up to RM500,000 for death or permanent disability, personal injury coverage up to RM500,000 and vehicle damage coverage up to RM100,000 for private use vehicles used by Government Servants as well as their family members.
Who are eligible for the insurance?
The Keluarga Malaysia Vehicle Insurance Financing scheme is set to benefit some 1.6 million civil servants, permanent and contracted. Ismail Sabri noted that the Keluarga Malaysia Vehicle Insurance Financing programme will be expanded to GLCs, GLICs and private sector.
