RHB Medical Insurance FAQ

What is Medical Insurance?
Medical Insurance provides for hospitalization and surgical expenses incurred due to accidents or illnesses covered under the policy.

How does renewal work?
The policy is renewable at the option of the Policyholder. If there is no claim incurred in the first year of policy inception, we will not impose any exclusion upon you on the subsequent renewal in the later years. The renewal premiums payable is not guaranteed and it is subject to age banding and portfolio premium revision. If there are claims incurred within the first year of policy inception, you would still qualify for the renewal, subject to exclusions or premium increases.

Who is eligible?
The policy shall cover eligible persons between the age of 30 days to 70 years, renewable up to 100 years. Your policy may cover your spouse and dependent children subject to the following:
i. A legally married spouse aged below 70 years old at the time of first inclusion. Once included, the spouse may continue to be included up to the age of 100 years.
ii. Unmarried children between 30 days and 19 years old. For dependent children who are full-time students of institutions of higher education, the age limit is 23 years old.

Is this a Non-Cashless or Cashless Plan?
This is a Cashless Plan. You will be given a Medical card to facilitate admission to panel hospitals without the need to pay upfront

What is a Deductible Programme?
This option allows you to pay a fraction of the entire annual premium but you need to settle the first RM5,000, RM10,000, RM20,000, RM30,000, RM50,000 or RM100,000 (as per your choice) of eligible expenses on your medical bills. This benefit is especially good if you already have a Hospitalisation and Surgical Insurance policy.

How long is the waiting period?
The eligibility for benefits under the policy will only start 30 days after the Effective Date of the Policy.

Importance of Keeping the Official Receipt Claims Procedure
After the premium has been paid, please make sure you have been given an Official Receipt as a proof of payment. You are strongly advised to keep the Official Receipt for any future references.

What are the major exclusions under this policy?
a) Pre-existing illness
b) Specified illness occurring during the first 120 days of continuous cover. (Hypertension, Diabetes mellitus, Cardiovascular disease, Tumours, Cancers, Cysts, Nodules, Polyps, Stones of in the urinary and biliary system, Ear, Nose (including sinuses) and Throat conditions, Hernias, Haemorrhoids, Fistulae, Hydrocele, Varicocele, Endometriosis including disease of the Reproduction system, Vertebro-spinal disorders (including disc) and Knee conditions.)
c) Any medical or physical conditions arising within the first 30 days of the Insured Person’s cover or date of reinstatement whichever is latest except for accidental injuries.
d) Plastic/Cosmetic surgery, circumcision, eye examination, glasses and refraction or surgical correction of nearsightedness (Radial Keratotomy) and the use or acquisition of external prosthetic appliances or devices such as artificial limbs, hearing aids, implanted pacemakers and prescriptions thereof.
e) Dental conditions including dental treatment or oral surgery except as necessitated by Accidental injuries to sound natural teeth occurring wholly during the Period of Insurance
f) Private nursing, rest cures or sanitaria care, illegal drugs, intoxication, sterilization, venereal disease and its sequelae, AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) or ARC (AIDS Related Complex) and HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) related diseases except the infection of HIV arose as a result of blood transfusion, and any communicable diseases requiring quarantine by law.
g) Any treatment or surgical operation for congenital abnormalities or deformities including hereditary conditions
h) Pregnancy, childbirth (including surgical delivery), miscarriage, abortion and prenatal or postnatal care and surgical, mechanical or chemical contraceptive methods of birth control or treatment pertaining to infertility. Erectile dysfunction and tests or treatment related to impotence or Sterilization.
i) Hospitalization primarily for investigatory purposes, diagnosis, X-ray examination, general physical or medical examinations, not incidental to treatment or diagnosis of a covered Disability or any treatment which is not Medically Necessary and any preventive treatments, preventive medicines or examinations carried out by a Physician, and treatments specifically for weight reduction or gain.
j) Suicide, attempted suicide or intentionally self-inflicted injury while sane or insane.
k) War or any act of war, declared or undeclared, criminal or terrorist activities, active duty in any armed forces, direct participation in strikes, riots and civil commotion or insurrection.
l) Ionising radiation or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or nuclear waste from the process of nuclear fission or from any nuclear weapons material
m) Expenses incurred for the donation of any body organ by an Insured Person and costs of acquisition of the organ including all costs incurred by the donor during organ transplant and its complications.
n) Investigation and treatment of sleep and snoring disorders, hormone replacement therapy and alternative therapy such as treatment, medical service or supplies, including but not limited to chiropractic services, acupuncture, acupressure, reflexology, bone setting, herbalist treatment, massage or aromatherapy or other alternative treatment.
o) Care or treatment for which payment is not required or to the extent which is payable by any other insurance or indemnity covering the Insured and Disabilities arising out of duties of employment or profession that is covered under a Workman’s Compensation Insurance Contract.
p) Psychotic, mental, or nervous disorders, (including any neuroses and their physiological or psychosomatic manifestations)
q) Cost/expenses of services of a non-medical nature, such as television, telephones, telex services, radios or similar facilities, admission kit/pack and other ineligible non-medical items.
r) Sickness or Injuring arising from racing of any kind (except foot racing), hazardous sports such as but not limited to skydiving, water skiing, underwater activities requiring breathing apparatus, winter sports, professional sports and illegal activities.
s) Private flying other than as a fare-paying passenger in any commercial scheduled airlines licensed to carry passengers over established routes.
t) Expenses incurred for sex changes

Can I cancel my policy?
You may cancel your policy by giving a written notice to the insurance company. Upon cancellation, you are entitled to a partial refund of the premium provided that you have not made a claim on the policy.

What is Khairat Care?

Khairat Care is designed to reimburse the charges incurred for Funeral expenses incurred when the insured passes away.

I have a pre-existing condition. Can I buy this?

A Person Covered may be considered to have reasonable knowledge of a pre-existing condition where the condition is one for: –

  • which existed or developed prior to the commencement date of coverage; or
  • where there exists manifestation of illnesses prior to the commencement date of coverage; or
  • which based on normal medically accepted pathological development of the illness, such illness would have existed prior to the commencement date of the coverage

No Benefit shall be payable if the death is due to a Pre-Existing Condition unless at the time of death, the Person Covered has been covered for more than twelve (12) months from the Master Certificate Commencement Date and the Person Covered has duly disclosed such Pre-Existing Condition and has been fully underwritten and accepted in writing by the Takaful Operator prior to the inception of the Takaful coverage.

How long am I covered for?

This coverage plan is auto-renew yearly until 70 Years Old.

What if I fail to renew my Coverage on time?

We give a grace period of 30 Days from the date of expiry for renewal, at which point your coverage will continue from the date of expiry until the next renewal period. If you fail to renew your coverage within the grace period, then your coverage will be cancelled and you will have to apply for a new coverage plan and all benefits will be reset.

How does my Nominated Beneficiary make this Claim?

Your Nominated Beneficiary must fill in the claim form at https://member.carewise.my/khairat-claim, within 90 days and provide the following supporting documents as per required:

  • Copy of NRIC of Person Covered
  • Copy of NRIC of Claimant
  • Certificate of Death of Person Covered
  • Burial Certificate of Person Covered

What happens if someone other than my Nominated Beneficiary makes this Claim?

In the event that someone other than the Nominated Beneficiary makes this Claim, CareWise will do due diligence in contacting the Nominated Beneficiary and seek approval to release the Claim to the Claimant.

Who is eligible?

  • Malaysian Citizens (this product is not available for Non-Malaysians and / or Permanent Residents of Malaysia)
  • Aged between 18 – 65 Years Old
  • Free of HIV, AIDS and/or any AIDS related diseases

What are the Exclusions for Khairat Care?

No Funeral Expense benefit shall be payable if death results directly or indirectly from:

  • whether sane or insane commit suicide within one (1) year from the date of inception of the Certificate; or
  • HIV infection, AIDS or any AIDS related complex unless the death arose as a result of blood transfusion or occupationally acquired

When does my coverage start?

Your coverage date will start from the date of Payment Made.

Can I cancel my Khairat Care plan?

We do not allow cancellation for the covered year.

How long to receive the claim?

Upon review and approval of the claim, CareWise will release the covered amount in two tranches:

  • First Tranche: RM1,500.00 within One (1) Business Day
  • Second Tranche: The remaining balance within Thirty (30) Business Days

Can I change my Nominated Beneficiary?

    4. What are the main exclusions?
      • Damage or destruction occurring while the premise is left unoccupied
      • Loss or damage due to theft by your domestic servants or any member of your family
      • Loss or damage to any building in the course of construction, reconstruction or repair
      • Loss or damage to metal smoke stacks, awnings, blinds, signs and other outdoor fixtures and fittings including gates and fences
      • Loss or damage to buildings caused by subsidence or landslip except as a result of earthquake or volcanic eruption
      • Contents removed for sale or exhibition
      • Damage to hand mirrors
      • Loss or damage to contents consisting of deeds, bonds, bills of exchange, promissory notes, cheques, securities for money, stamps, documents of any kind, cash, currency notes, bank notes, manuscripts, medals and coins, motor vehicles and accessories or livestock unless specifically mentioned in the Policy Schedule
      • All legal costs and expenses which are not incurred in or recoverable in Malaysia

    5. What is the definition of content in the context of Home Flood Insurance?
      • Content shall mean household goods such as furniture, electrical items, household appliances, and personal effects such as clothing, wallet and etc. belonging to you or any member normally reside with you in the private dwelling.
      • Content coverage excludes platinum, gold, silver articles, jewelry, furs, any curiosity or work of art for an amount exceeding RM500.00, securities, obligations, deeds, bonds, bills of exchange, promissory notes, or documents of any kind, stamps, coins or paper money, cheques, currency notes, bank notes manuscripts, books of account or other business books, or computer systems records, motor vehicles and accessories, or livestock.

POLICY PURCHASE & ELIGIBILITY

    1. Who can purchase Home Flood Insurance?
      a Malaysian, or a foreigner who is a permanent resident of Malaysia, work permit holder, pass holder or otherwise is legally employed and legally residing in Malaysia; and
      Your property insured is located within Malaysia.
    2. When is the effective date assuming I purchase Home Flood Insurance on Fatberry today?
      Once you have completed your payment in Fatberry and Tokio Marine receives your application, your e-policy will be issued within one working day, with coverage effective on the policy issued date. You will receive an e-mail confirmation with your policy number, policy effective date and expiry date. Your e-policy will be attached to the same email.
    3. Can I purchase Home Flood Insurance for another person?
      Yes, you may purchase Home Flood Insurance on behalf of another person, provided that the policyholder’s details are filled with the other person’s details and not yours.
    4. I have more than one property. Can I purchase another Home Flood policy?
      Yes, you can. Each property is eligible to be covered under one Home Flood policy only and each Home Flood policy is insuring only one property. You may proceed to go through the purchase process to get a Home Flood policy for your other properties.
    5. I have a home (fire) insurance policy from a bank and my policy is still active. Can I still purchase Home Flood Insurance from Fatberry?
      Yes, you can still purchase Home Flood Insurance as home insurance by bank typically does not cover home contents. You can check this with your bank (mortgage) for further clarification

POLICY SERVICING & CLAIMS

    1. Can I cancel my policy?
      You may cancel your policy by giving written notice to us. Upon cancellation, you are entitled to a refund of the premium based on Tokio Marine’s short-period rates for the period of the policy which has been in force, subject to the minimum premium to be retained by us. No refund premium is allowed if there is a claim under the policy.
    2. What do I need to do if there are changes to my personal details?
      It is important that you inform us of any change in your contact/personal details to ensure that all correspondences reach you in a timely manner. You can provide your updated details via email to customer.service@fatberry.com or call us at +6011 2612 8112.
    3. How do I make a claim for Home Flood Insurance?
      1. You can either notify Fatberry (+6011 2612 8112 / claim@fatberry.com) or Tokio Marine (1800-88-0812 / tmim.claimsnonmotor@tokiomarine.com.my) immediately giving details such as the nature and extent of loss or damage
      2. Notify the police immediately for theft incident
      3. Record evidence by taking photographs of the damages and/or point of entry
      4. Work with us by cooperating with the Adjusters when called upon
    4. What are the documents required to support a claim?
      • Completed Claim Form
      • Written Statement of Claim detailing the items lost/damaged
      • Estimate of repairs for damaged building
      • Purchase invoices/receipts/valuation reports of the stolen/damaged items
      • Photographs depicting the damaged items or premise of loss/damage (if no Adjusters is appointed)
      • Final repair/replacement bills(s)
      • Any additional information and documents as may be required by Insurers or Adjuster other than above
    5. How long do I have to wait to get my claim?

    6. What is an adjuster and what do they do?
      The adjuster works for the insurance company paying the claim. They will review what happened and estimate the claims payment. The adjuster may inspect the damages, look at police reports, talk to witnesses, or ask for more information when reviewing your claim.
